Sacramento’s Heavy Rain and Unstable Pipeline Cause Sewer Overflow

The city of Sacramento has experienced record rainfall within the last several months. This has led to unfortunate sewer overflow within the Sacramento-area wastewater systems.  The local waterways took the brunt of the complications from the spill.  The waterway which was primarily affected is Hangtown Creek, flowing into the American River. The overflow had environmental ramifications due to contaminants; which were recently found in the creek. The polluted sections of the creeks are rural, and mostly without nearby development.
